About Us

Who are we?

The Buntwald was established at the end of 2019 as a non-profit association for the promotion of art and culture. We are ten people from Oberwolfach and one from Wolfach who enjoy music and want to bring its diversity to the region. In doing so, it is important to us to also address social aspects and things like sustainability.

Why Buntwald?

The basic idea was to bring more music to the region. Here in the Wolftal, there already is a lot of cultural events offered - but we are sure: There is still more to come! We want even more diversity and thus make the Black Forest even more colorful. The name Buntwald (“bunt” meaning “colorful” and “Wald” meaning “forest” in German) stands for the different colors of music as well as for the colorful society we live in.

We would like to bring people closer together again at our events. For us, it doesn’t matter where someone comes from, what they look like or how old they are – what counts is where they want to go and what their goals and values are. Our goal is that not only the people who celebrate with us enjoy our festival and the other events. We also want that something is left of it in a sustainable way. Something that we can pass on. That’s why we donate the majority of our revenues to social institutions and organizations that either operate here locally or come from the region and do good in the world.

What are we going to do?

We have many ideas in mind and want to organize events from different cultural areas in Oberwolfach and the surrounding area. In 2021, we celebrated a small but excellent kick-off with our picnic concert. In the summer of 2022, the premiere of our festival in the middle of the countryside is coming up. We can hardly wait!
